Not a parliamentarian

FACT: Delhi Police on Wednesday virtually withdrew the pre-conditions for Anna Hazare to fast and have granted permission for holding it in Ramlila Maidan. Delhi administration agreed to relax six of the 22 conditions for Team Anna to hold his indefinite fast against the government version of the  Lokpal bill. While, the police have offered Team Anna seven days extendable limit for protest at the Ramlila Maidan, they have put some restrictions on the number of protesters at the ground, which has been kept up to Ramlila Maidan’s capacity. Cars have been kept up to the limit that traffic is under control.(timesofindia.indiatimes.com 17 August 2011).

OWL WATCH: Government itself is destabilizing its position. If this government is not decisive, what is the use of taking decisions? Undemocratic decision was taken back by the government under pressure by most of the political parties representing Indian parliament. But the representatives of the civil societies will not be vocal to appraise the political parties who resisted ill action of government and all the political leaders of our country will receive filthy abuses in ‘facebook’ by many irresponsible countrymen of India. Whatever the colour of our parliamentarians, – green,  saffron, blue, red, tricolour, bicolour or others -  they are the elected representatives by the people. It may be true, some of them are not capable to represent our countrymen in parliament. But measuring all parliamentarians in the same standard is another insult to democracy. Freedom of speech does not fit here. The civil societies are fueling hatred as a result  youths of our country are abusing all parliamentarians in filthy words in ‘facebook’ chat which is nothing but to show the ‘level’ of understanding of democracy by the ‘freedom fighters’ of this movement.
Civil societies and NGOs have grown up in such a mass that those can challenge our democratic framework too. It cannot educate people to respect democracy. But it can create unrest among the people against democracy. In the era of globalization where funds flow globally any unrest can be easily fueled by pumping ‘global’ funds to NGOs or civil societies. People have not given any responsibility to them but they serve the people as they wish. Funding by government and by other sources are in plenty to ‘serve’ the people without any accountability to the people. Somehow they are replacing job of a governance, aided by the government, to create hatred among the people against all political parties.  NGOs or civil societies became a ‘autonomous structure’ to govern our country which resulted due to lack of living contacts of  the political parties with people. Ill respect to our leaders even to the parliamentarians may be seen as the dominance of civil societies over our democracy. Indecisive action of this government once again proved it.
