FACT: Former Samajwadi Party leader and Rajya Sabha MP Amar Singh, who was on Friday questioned for first time by the Delhi Police, has denied his involvement in the cash-for-votes scam during UPA trust vote in 2008. Singh refused to speak to media at the end of his questioning. The decision to call Singh for questioning on Friday followed the arrest of Hindustani, who allegedly acted as a liaison between Singh and BJP MPs.The former Samajwadi Party leader was examined by Crime Branch for over three hours. The police examination of Singh is important as it suspects that he may have acted as an abettor and mediator in the scandal. He was summoned for questioning by the Delhi Police on at 11 am on Friday under Section 160 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

The Delhi Police will examine others in the cash-for-votes scam, including MPs Ashok Argal and Reoti Raman Singh, besides Sudheendra Kulkarni, a former aide of senior BJP leader LK Advani. It is only after their statements are in that the police will take a call on calling Singh for a second round of questioning.
